Therapeutic Approach

Danielle brings to her practice a great enthusiasm for wellness, a curiosity about what temporeraly blocks wellness, and thorough, vibrant strategies for mastering emotions. She is aware that going to see a therapist can be very nerve-wracking, especially if you have been to one before that you did not ‘click with’. Danielle is of the belief that a therapist can be very experienced or highly educated, but if there is not a good fit between you and your therapist, it is difficult to open up or achieve great things together.

Danielle sees that most symptoms are the result of old coping mechanisms that once were likely to have been effective, but are now working against you and bringing you distress. Her warm, relaxed and insightful approach makes use of the client-therapist relationship. This will assist you to develop stronger coping skills, and guides you to a deepened tolerance and understanding of yourself, your relationships and how you respond to your world.

Danielle adopts a process-oriented, loosely psychodynamic approach which intergrates Mindfulness-based Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (MCBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Danielle also makes use of Motivational Interviewing, Dyadic Therapy and emotion-focused theories.
